Shipyard Fireberry

Happy Sunday Funday ya’ll! Its been a crazy summer with weddings, trips, and work so I haven’t made the time to write a few of these. On a side note, I found these on the clearance rack at Club Pub and figured for $8, why not grab a sixer and head over to a grill out. It seemed a little too fruity for me but hey, a deal’s a deal! So, I bought a beer that bills itself as infused with some sort of hippy tea leaves. Get over it.

Appearance: Drank out of cans, but from what I could see it was amber with a fairly high carbonation.

Smell: It has a super floral aroma that is close to rose petals or hibiscus. I don’t think I’ve ever had a beer that smells like that. Let’s see where this goes.

Taste: Wow, it tastes like a cold glass of tea with minimal (if any) hoppiness or malt flavor. It’s not artificially sweet or fake flavored and surprisingly refreshing. I’m not sure I could have more than one, but this one hits the spot.

Mouthfeel: Feels just like your run of the mill amber ale, with high carbonation and lightness on the palate.

Value: $8 for six wasn’t bad. Not a steal, but better than market price!

Overall: I’m giving this a 6/10 just due to the unique flavor profile it carries. It;s definitely different, but for those who like floral teas, try and grab one before the summer is up!

Until next time, tight lines and cheers!
