Happy Sunday Funday ya’ll! Instead of my normal beer review, I thought I would try something a little different. I’m trying to put together the first (to my knowledge) Microbrewery Bar Crawl set for Saturday, August 1st. While we won’t be able to hit all two dozen or so breweries, I picked five I think that are a great representation of what Central Florida has to offer. These breweries are listed in the order we will visit them. And, as always: be smart, if you drink, don’t drive. We’ll be ubering to most of these. I’m up for suggestions, so leave them in the comments below!
Tactical Brewing Company, Baldwin Park:
Tactical Brewing is in Baldwin Park and has plenty of street parking on the side streets. This is a veteran-owned and operated company that puts out some really special beers. They have some fantastic stouts and NEIPAs, but many of them are higher ABV, so be sure to take it easy! They have a carrot cake IPA called Tricarratops that is absolutely fantastic, along with many other different but very good beers.
Ten10 Brewing, Ivanhoe Park:
Ten10 Brewing has become an Orlando staple in the five years it has been in business. Truth be told, I’ve only visited the brewery once. However, I’ve been fortunate enough to have their beers numerous times, even a few kegs at my wedding shower! I haven’t had a bad beer there and it’s right around the corner from the Mills 50 district. Looking at their menu today, there is something for everyone and even some food!
Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company, Ivanhoe Park:
If you’re an Orlando local, you have probably seen their beers in the local Publix or Winn-Dixie. They’re only a short walk away from Ten10 and have an awesome vibe. They are more commercialized in that they’ve got good beers, distribute well, but have nothing that really pushes the envelope in a creative aspect. All in all, it’s another great place to take folks, especially those just getting into craft beer!
Broken Strings Brewery, Parramore:
Broken Strings is in the shadow of the Orlando City Soccer stadium and is a hidden gem in my opinion. While in a less glamorous neighborhood than the other breweries on this crawl, this place cranks out some serious beers. They have everything from your “closest thing you’ve got to Bud Light” to some awesome bourbon barrel aged special releases. If you haven’t swung by there yet, you need to!
Rockpit Brewing, SoDo:
Finally, we end our adventures at my favorite Central Florida brewery, Rockpit Brewing. This brewery is located just off of Orange Avenue in SoDo. They literally have everything there from light beers and sours to hard seltzers, stouts, and IPAs of every sort. Also, they’re next door to Cecil’s BBQ which will deliver your order to your seat at the bar! Between the atmosphere, beers, and all around good folks, there is no better way to end your crawl than at Rockpit. It’s also 3 minutes from I4 and about 5 minutes from 408, so after this you’ll be in an Uber heading home in no time!
Well, I don’t know about ya’ll, but I sure am excited. Let me know if there is something I’m missing or if you want to come!
Until next time, tight lines and cheers!
