Shipyard Pumpkinhead

Happy Sunday Funday, ya’ll! After a wild weekend of some very good friends gettin’ hitched and UCF crushing FIU, I figured I needed some refreshment. Now before you jump my case and say there are so many better pumpkin beers out there, this was my first introduction into the pumpkin style and has stayed near to my heart ever since. In my opinion, this is an awesome lead in for people on the fence about pumpkin style beers and for those who want to channel their inner “basicness.” So let’s get into it!

Appearance: Hazy gold with tons of carbonation. Almost like a Bud or Coors.

Smell: There is a ton of malts and a touch of cinnamon. There is also something that reminds me vaguely of a hay ride in a wonderful way.

Taste: I’m getting a ton of malts and sweetness. Some of it is almost sugar-like with a strong cinnamon kick. This is really easy on the palate, I’m just not sure if I could crush 6 of them.

Mouthfeel: This is a very smooth beer with nice carbonation to make it very drinkable. Dare I compare it to *gasp* Bud Light? As far as craft beers go, this goes down almost like water.

Value: It was $9/sixer at the local Publix so I’m pretty happy with it.

Overall: I give it a solid 6/10 because it is easy to drink, has decent flavor, and is pretty cheap. If you are on the fence about trying new beers or just want to embrace your “basicness” go out and get you some!!

Until next time, tight lines and cheers!
