Stone Delicious IPA

Happy Sunday Funday ya’ll! This Sunday I got skunked for the first time I can remember pond hopping. So I figured trying a new (to me) beer from a rockin’ brewery and grabbed a sixer of Stone Delicious IPA. I’m a big Stone IPA fan and grab their Enjoy By’s whenever I see them. Also, I held a “6 Pack Party” where everyone brings a different six pack and you try a bunch of different beers and had some left over. I’d highly suggest this if you are looking to try a bunch of different styles but you’re ballin’ on a budget! Enough of my disjointed ramblings, here’s what you came for.

Appearance: Poured into a tulip glass, it looks grapefruit red with a touch of sunset yellow. There was a 1 finger head that dissipates quickly. It also leaves a nice lacing.

Smell: I’m getting a ton of floral hops with a citrus kick to them. Yeah, I know you’re thinking “Gee, and IPA that smells like hops no way!” Nothing crazy complex, just a well put together beer.

Taste: Just like the bottle says, tons of citrusy and semisweet hops. There is a touch of malt to balance it out. They used Lemondrop hops and it tastes just like the name suggests. Overall it is a well balanced, hoppy but not overly bitter flavor.

Mouthfeel: It sips smooth but goes down with a kick on the aftertaste. It is pungent and almost astringent but in a way the invites you to take another sip.

Value: Coming in at $11.99/sixer at the Total Wine it is a bit pricey but clocks in at a stout (see what I did there?) 7.7% abv. Its good but in my opinion you’re paying for the name at that price.

Overall: I’d give this a solid 6/10. It is a good IPA but at that price point I’d go with a Jai Alai or a Stone IPA. Its got good flavor, looks good, and smells good, but its good not great. If you haven’t had it give it a shot but don’t expect to be blown away.

Until next time, tight lines and cheers. I’ll be giving ya’ll an update from the Keys here soon as well!
